Iraqi army patrols Sadr City
BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi troops are deployed in large numbers in the Baghdad district of Sadr City, where Shiite militiamen used to control the streets. Iraqi soldiers are on top of buildings around the office of anti-U.S. cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, whose followers hold Friday prayers there and use the occasion to criticize the American-backed government.

Report: Kuwait names ambassador to Iraq
KUWAIT CITY (AP) - Kuwait's official news agency says the tiny Gulf country has named an ambassador to Iraq for the first time since the 1991 Gulf War. Thursday's report quotes the Kuwaiti foreign minister as saying Ali al-Momen, a former military chief of staff, will take the post.
